Hi group have PR 1.5 and just tried a test this weekend where I shoot a Canon to PR and then output an 8x10 on DNP printers and I see the prints are cropping the bottom and top just enough to ruin the serial number and QR box.

I've never tried any prints other than 4x6 so wondering if anyone has any tips, as I've tried about 6 times every option I can think of.

Thanks David

You need to take your Printer's bleed into account.

For instance, an 8x10 print size with bleed on a DS80 is 8.16"x10.12", which will noticeably crop with a precise layout.

Use the Print Offset Control to adjust your bleed size. If your print is cropping, reduce the bleed size to a negative value. The bleed size value is in pixels. 38px is about 1/8".

ok thanks, so there is no way to see an image and see what the crop is on screen while adjusting the values?

We were using a competing software, and they allow zooming (cropping) on the fly.
I'm trying to get your software to replace theirs....

Thanks Chris you're the best, Dave

So far still not working and I can't fathom trying to deal with this at a real event.
There's got to be an easier way, 8x10 is the size people want if they want a larger print and I can't understand why the software doesn't show you the crop in advance.

Thanks for reading...

Hi David,

It's not the software, it's your printer bleed- and most every printer has different bleed sizes. The software creates an image exactly to size. When your printer picks it up, it will force to its bleed.
You can see your crop (Portrait/Landscape position controls), but again, it sounds like you have not allowed any bleed in your output.

So if you want precision prints, use our bleed control or factor your printer's bleed into your layout to get the precise output you wish.

Also, a sample of your digital output and print would be helpful.

Hi Chris, I'm 100% sure it's a user error but under stress with freelancer guys I'm sure they will not understand the software setup.

I have 3 pics, they were tests so the first shows the portrait shot full frame as shot.
The second shot shows what your software does meaning it crops to 8x10 other than shrinking the picture so I would have a border, I don't have any adjustments. In the last picture I see the bleed control but I don't see any changes.

Please tell me where I'm missing a step. In the software we used they had a nifty feature where you could simply move the images around the crop and zoom in. That was really simple and fast this is really slow and not intuitive but I'm probably missing something.

Let me know where I missed a step. Thanks Dave

If you are cropping on your prints, you need to reduce your bleed value. You show +11 for the value; try -30 px as your starting point.
