PrintRipper™ User Guide: Tips (Image Assembly, Process Folders)

*PrintRipper™ Tips

In this section, we will explain some fundamental principles of how PrintRipper™ assembles output, uses folders for triggering processes, and ideas on how you can use PrintRipper™ to save you time and effort.

Image Assembly

Like many image editing programs, PrintRipper™assembles your output in layers.

Layers, top to bottom:
• Watermark
• Border
• Your Photo
• Chroma Key Background

Even though each layer is intended for a general purpose, there is nothing from keeping you from creating more complex and creative elements with these layers. For example, you can add additional complexity by using the Borders layer as an additional Chroma Key overlay, while using your Watermark layer for applying your border. Getting any ideas yet?

Process Folders

Until this point, we have assumed that any Process Folder you have created reside on the same computer that is running PrintRipper™. This does not have to be the case. You can use any folder as a process folder: WebDav, network folder, or otherwise. This idea opens up very powerful possibilities.

Example: Shooting in one location, Printing in another

You are tethered to a computer in one location and PrintRipper™ is running on a computer in another location. You have a wired or wireless network set up so these systems can share files.

You can share your PrintRipper™ Process folder(s) with your tethered computer. Your tethered computer can save photos to the shared Process folder, triggering processes over your network
.

Example: Shooting an all-digital event with previews to be viewed on your website

You are shooting an event that does not require on-demand prints, but wish to quickly post your work on a web site. In addition, you wish to watermark your work to protect your work.
You would first create a process with your intended output size and load your watermark into PrintRipper™. Depending on the sophistication of your site, you can tie your PrintRipper™ Composites folder to your site, where your photos can be displayed or you can batch upload them manually to your site when you are ready.
